Spotify

I decided to give the Spotify for Android another try, so I upgraded to Spotify Premium. I knew the app was pretty bad, but Premium also grants access to high-quality streams on the desktop. The Android app had not been updated since November 2011, and it's playlist-centric interface is terrible. It's not possible to play a song without putting it into a playlist first.

Sure enough, Spotify has rewritten their app from scratch, and a preview is available on their blog. It's a huge improvement and gets them back into the game. I have heard good things about Rdio for Android, and the MOG app is really nice; Spotify was way behind the curve. But the MOG app has serious connectivity issues, even though it has the nicest feature set/interface of the three. And for whatever reason, MOG refuses to run smoothly on CM7.2 on the Atrix.

I'm sold on the new Spotify app. The only thing it's missing is last.fm scrobbling support, but that's coming soon.
