had issues with Dropbox on the turinskyserv. it was giving file permission errors, most likely because Dropbox Linux does not like NTFS.

an unrelated issue: the root partition on the server is not very big and could potentially run out of room for the users' home directories.

solution: reformat the unused 200 GB NTFS partition (data2) as ext4 and mount it as /home. Now the home dirs have a lot more room, and Dropbox plays nicely on the server.
